Your bilingual guide will pick you up at the Cuiabá airport, and you’ll begin your 5–6 hour journey into the heart of the Pantanal — Porto Jofre. The first part of the trip covers about 100 km (approximately one hour) on a paved road to Poconé, the capital of the Pantanal and the last town before entering the world’s largest tropical wetland. From Poconé, you’ll continue along the famous Transpantaneira Highway, a wildlife-rich route offering exceptional opportunities to observe and photograph animals in their natural habitat. You will arrive at the lodge in the late afternoon. Your accommodation and dinner will be at Jaguar Land, a comfortable hotel located in Porto Jofre.
The State Park is one of the largest protected areas in the Pantanal and a prime habitat for jaguars and an exceptional variety of waterbirds. It is the best place for boat excursions, wildlife photography, and true Jaguar Safaris along Mato Grosso’s most important rivers. Mornings start early to enjoy the best light and peak animal activity. After breakfast — adjustable with your guide — we depart by motorboat to explore the tributaries of the Meeting of the Waters State Park, an area with one of the highest concentrations of caimans and capybaras, offering outstanding chances of seeing jaguars hunting, resting, or patrolling the riverbanks. From June to November, with lower water levels, jaguars are often found along the river’s edge. During the day, you may also encounter Giant Otters, Capybaras, Caimans, Tapirs, Anacondas, Monkeys, and a rich array of birds, including Toco Toucans and Hyacinth Macaws. Lunch often unfolds with a jaguar in sight — an unforgettable experience. Safe bathroom stops are made on sandbanks, and we carry everything needed on board so you never miss a sighting or photographic moment.
Depart after breakfast and head to the wildlife sanctuary of Piuval Lodge, where you will spend two nights. At Piuval Lodge, we will have excellent opportunities to observe and photograph a wide variety of bird species and numerous mammals, including the giant anteater, crab-eating fox, lesser tamandua, Azara’s agouti, monkeys, raccoons, armadillos, and more. Activities will begin in the afternoon. The day will conclude with a night safari before dinner.
Early-morning for activity at the lodge, focusing on the giant anteater and other species such as monkeys, toucans, and a variety of birds. After breakfast, we will depart for a game drive, continuing our search for different animal and bird species. Lunch will be served at 12:00, followed by time to rest before the afternoon game drive at 3:00 p.m. In the afternoon, we will head out for another safari in the lodge area in search of additional wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner. Rest and overnight accommodation.
Begin the morning with a game drive at the lodge, with chances to spot the giant anteater and other different species of animals. After breakfast, guests will organize their belongings and prepare for departure. Transfer will be arranged to the airport or hotel, according to the scheduled itinerary. Trip conclusion.
