PORTO JOFRE

04TH TO 6TH DAY

JAGUAR LAND

The State Park covers a vast expanse in the heart of the Pantanal. It is one of the region’s largest protected areas and home to the majestic jaguar and an extraordinary variety of waterbirds. This is the single best place for boat excursions, birdwatching, and wildlife photography. Here, you will experience true Jaguar Safaris along the most important rivers of Mato Grosso. Mornings in the Pantanal start early. After breakfast — which you can adjust with your guide — you’ll head out as soon as possible to take advantage of the best light and the prime wildlife activity hours. Departing the hotel aboard a motorboat, we’ll navigate the tributaries of the Meeting of the Waters State Park, one of the three largest protected areas in the Pantanal. With an exceptionally high density of prey species — including caimans and large groups of capybaras — this region offers the best chances of observing jaguars hunting, resting, or patrolling the riverbanks. From June to November, when the water levels drop and the riverbanks are exposed, jaguars are often spotted resting or stalking prey right along the edge of the water. Throughout the day, you’ll also encounter a rich variety of wildlife, such as Giant Otters, Neotropical Otters, Caimans, Capybaras, Tapirs, Yellow Anacondas, Howler Monkeys, Capuchin Monkeys, and countless bird species — including the magnificent Toco Toucan and the endangered Hyacinth Macaw. Many times, lunch unfolds with a jaguar in sight — an unforgettable experience. Rest assured, we’ll make safe bathroom stops on sandbanks whenever needed. Because jaguars can be unpredictable and appear at any moment, we bring everything necessary with us so that you won’t miss a single opportunity for incredible photography or once-in-a-lifetime sightings.
